One year passed so fast; and I really mean FAST with the cap F. I remembered being shocked beyond recognition when I was appointed as A2 section leader, and now I've stepped down from this position which gives me so much to miss about. I've learn a whole lot of stuff throughout the year and I guess I really came to love it only after a relatively long period of time. To me, it wasn't easy from the start. Ever since I joined choir. I remembered in sec 1, I was terribly upset when I was unable to get into the same section as my cousin(which I know it's pretty lame, but.. ) and so I spent the 1st half of the year of my choir life attempting to change my section (Which obviously, did not work). And I started to like choir at the end of sec 1, because we were preparing to go to Xiamen for a Choral competition. Which did not take place because the night before the flight, there was a typhoon around that area and the plane couldn't come to Singapore. Which made everyone terribly sad, since we trained so hard for it. I remember when we(the choristers) sat down at the Studio weeping miserably because we put in a lot of time and effort - we go to school at 6.30am every morning to practice, then there was recess and after school practices which were extremely terrifying to go to because everytime I went there, people would be like, "She's gonna scold us again."

Our Choir standard fluctuates a lot. And I mean A LOT. I guess we're always lucky because we always managed to shine at the right time. Like SYF last year. So many practices, so little time, so much tears, lectures, pep talks... And we finally got what we wanted at the end of the day. That Gold with Honours title did not come easy. We struggled together and we finally made it through. Then there was the President Charity concert, which was so fan-tabulous because we were performing for a good cause. And the Esplanade is totally cool alright! The dressing rooms were so cool(scroll all the way down for plenty of pictures - 2007) The best thing was that we performed in front of the President and the First Lady. :DD And then there was this CIP project to the Spastic Children's home which Mrs Foo assigned me to do. That was my 1st big project since I was the one in-charge of it. I remembered spending days with my section members doing the souveniers for the children, planning the event, coming up with practice dates, doing the practices... It was for such a worthwhile cause, and everyone was so happy at the end of the day. Seeing the smiles on the peoples face were great, and it makes me really happy too.

As for my jobscope as an SL(I know I've been dragging it since, para 1. heehee :D) I learnt a lot. First and foremost, I learnt how to teach a group of people how to sing the songs in choir. And I remember the 1st few months, when there was no SC and all the SLs had to do warm ups with the entire choir before Ms Lim comes(Now that's truly scary, cos you're facing 80++ choristers staring at you and no one else). I know I blundered alot, cos choristers will start laughing, and I start laughing at myself too, but I learnt how to stand and face the people on my own. But that was not all. Apart from the above, I got to know everyone(almost!) on a more personal level, and being able to communicate with my section well :D I know my section has been really supportive of me despite all those scoldings, nagging, critical remarks I have made throughout the entire duration and I'm really grateful for such a wonderful section. There's Shi Han(Cool Meimei), Gloria(Skin&Bones), Sherlyn(Bero), and Pavadee(Putt) who were always there to stand by me, help me out whenever I'm not around. And there's Fiona, Deborah(Denatured Enzyme Lock - DEL), Elsa(Elsasa), Marianne(Malian), Vivien(Pink Lover)to be there to support me and lend a listening ear when you seriously need them. :D Dian, Tracy, Qian Wei, Sheryl and Yu Han were great juniors cause they just rock :D

I know it seems like I missed out one person huh. Fret not, I didn't forget that lady. How can I miss out my always there to help me, catch me when I fall, slogged our guards out for this section and always tries her best to teach well. My other partner LOUISE LIM! When the world felt like it was gonna collapse on me, when I thought my teaching could never make it, when I wasn't around to teach/help A2, she'll constantly be there, always ensuring that things falls into their places so that I would worry a lot less. We faced the obstacles and break through hurdles together. And I'm really glad to have such a fantastic SL partner, vocal partner and junior like you. :D

Then there are also the teachers. Mrs Foo, Ms Ng, Ms Tong, Ms Yin, Ms Lim, Ms Ee... They have been so dedicated to choir, never left us in times of dispair, groomed us to become better choristers and more well-behaved students.. I would like to specially commend Mrs Foo for being so dedicated to choir, giving her best shot. Though I did not go to Italy and Xiamen was cancelled, I can tell that she was the one slogging really hard to make these choir trips successful. When the choir worries about their sound quality, she had to worry about everything else - logistic, accomodation, itenery, costumes... For Italy, the costumes were a big problem because there weren't enough PB clothes to fit everyone, thus she had to borrow from band, borrow from the school. Can't you people see the sacrifices this teacher has made?

Through so much experiences, I've become stronger in my emotions, more confident, more outspoken - all in all, I've become a better person. I've never regretted choosing choir over band(I have to play the bassoon if I joined!) and drama(My friend just dragged me to go along with her, and I passed through the audition! That crazy!). Never.

I guess the only regret I might have was not opening my heart fully to accept this job at the initial stage.

Memories are meant to be kept in your hearts forever. Treasure them while they last. To the current comm, or to whoever who's in whatsoever positions in your CCA, treasure the time you spend in your CCA, cos opportunities only come knocking once. Never doubt your own abilities, and stay strong, come what may. There'll always be people who wil be there to support you and guide you.
